Apple Picking at Melick’s Town Farm

7th October 2014

IMG_3072 copy I’ve said this over and over recently but fall truly is my favourite time of the year—I’ve literally been counting down the days until apple picking season. Last weekend the time was finally here, after moving our outing from Saturday to Sunday due to bad weather, we ventured out with friends to Melick’s Town Farm in Oldwick, NJ. Last year we visited several farms and struggled to find any apples to pick but at Melick’s we had no problem. From Golden Delicious to Joanagold, there was certainly no shortage. This plus the incredible weather—pure sunshine with a fall chill in the air—it was the perfect afternoon. With a basket full of apples, we strolled over to the outdoor farm store and bought a couple of roasted corn on the cobs, topped with salt, butter flakes and chilli lime mayo – delicious! We then browsed the produce and decided on a jar of pumpkin butter, cider donuts and a handful of mini pumpkins and gourds. I definitely recommend Melick’s Town Farm for anyone looking for a great apple picking spot, it’s such a beautiful farm and a great day out for all. Now just to figure out what to make with all of these apples!
