DIY Party Fascinator

26th April 2015

fascinator

Heading to the Kentucky Derby this weekend or hosting a Derby themed party and wondering what to wear? Here’s a quick and easy tutorial on how to make your own last minute fascinator!

Materials:

  • Gold spray paint
  • Brooch or cameo
  • Plastic comb (or headband)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Feathers (you can use any type you like to make your fascinator, I chose this straight hackle patchΒ from M&J Trimming as it came with a small fabric underlay)

To create:
Use the gold spray paint to cover the ends of the hackle patch feather giving it a gold dip dyed effect. Once dry, use your glue gun to adhere your brooch or cameo to the tip of the feather. Allow a few minutes for the glue to dry. Flip over the feather and attach your plastic comb (or headband) to the underlay fabric using your hot glue gun or a needle and thread. Voila! You are derby party ready.
