The Past Six Months

17th July 2017

Bachelorette[my dream bachelorette in charleston]

What a whirlwind the past six months have been! From Vegas to San Francisco, Charleston, Portugal and France (several which were work related trips) I never imagined that I would be fitting so much mileage into such a few short months. My big news? In May, Joe and I got married at the most beautiful vineyard north of Lisbon in Portugal and have been on cloud nine ever since, and because we decided to hand make as many of the wedding details as possible (invites, stationary, calligraphy, gifts to name a few) I decided to take a little break from blogging and enjoy the planning process. Now that we’re nicely settled in to married life, I’m excited to get back into all things Paper Vines and also of course share many of our wedding crafting activities! In the meantime, here is a little snapshot of the past six months in photos.

Life Lately

Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea

Last summer I decided to take a break from blogging. Life was feeling a little hectic and I wasn’t able to commit to this blog as much as I wanted to. However, the past few months I’ve been itching to get back to it and figured I’d start by giving the site a new makeover (hope you like!). Now that it’s all up and running, I’m really excited to start sharing all the things that I love again; decor, DIY, entertaining and travel.

So what have I have I been up to since last summer? Well probably the most exciting news is that I got engaged! During a trip to the Poconos last October, while hiking near Bushkill Falls we stopped at a gorgeous valley overlook and I turned around to find Joe down on one knee! It’s been an amazing few months of celebration and planning, and we’re officially getting married in May 2017, in Portugal!  Continue Reading

Venue ~ Quinta Do Sanguinhal Vineyard, Portugal

15th October 2012

On a recent trip to Portugal I had the opportunity to visit the Quinta Do Sanguinhal Vineyard, located 40 minutes North of Lisbon in the D.O.C Obidos region. Set over 95 hectares, this stunning vineyards hosts three wine producing estates including twenty hectares of white varieties and 75 red.

The tour consisted of a walk through the ‘French’ gardens, where the pathways were lined with pumpkins and hydrangeas eventually leading up the white grape variety vineyards. The weather was beautiful for the beginning of October and we were lucky enough to be visiting the week the grapes were to be picked.

Following the afternoon walk through the vineyard we were taken to one of the estate’s stunning venues for a wine tasting.  It was hard not to fall in love with the room; an old cellar with an ancient pressing room still fit with six stones and wood winepresses. The ceiling encompassed high wooden beams and the room was lit by candlelight.

Generally used as a reception or dining room, the pressing room has a seating capacity for approximately 90 people.  With such a natural and rustic personality, I couldn’t help but envisage all the ways of how it could be used for an event.
